I inherited 5200 ancient chinese books(about 400yrs old), what is the value? who can evaluate this?
The collection was from my great grand father who was a scholar, an officer in Qing dynastry. My grand father brought to Thailand before world war LL. I don’t read chinese, I don’t know at what price should I sell it?
First, don’t jump at the first thing that comes to you. Take one or two or three of them to a reputable antiques dealer or antique book seller (preferably one who specializes in China/East Asia) – see what they have to say. Then, go to one or two more of these – get a few opinions. Another way to go might be a museum, if you have a good one near you, or a university – find a museum or university with Asian scholars in residence.
