Sea Lion
Have you ever heard of a sea lion attack?
I was just in Santa Cruz, CA and one of the bigger sea lions lunged at me from the other side of a fence. It made me wonder if there have ever been any sea lion-related incidents…I’ve lived in CA all my life and never heard of anything happening. Got any info?
If you ever go swimming in the Galapagos Islands you may have the same experience as I did. Swimming in the water near some females one of the large males came at me in the water. I just remained still and held my nerve and it pulled up a few metres short before turning away. I was glad because he was pretty big and those teeth have the potential to so some damage.
Mind you experiences of this sort are fairly rare – especially considering the level of tourism the Galapagos Islands endure. I am unaware of any attack where the human party suffered serious damage or wounds.
Like all animals give them the space they need to live their lives without unnecessary stress and you will be fine.
