Bone Pair
My dog has to have something in her mouth all the time …?
My dog is about four yearsp old and whenever we call her name, come home, talk, ect, she has to have something in her mouth (whether it be a bone, pair of socks from a laundry basket even a chew toy. Does anyone know why she does this and how we can stop this habit that she’s been doing for the past three years. We’ve alredy tied the drop, release ect.
I have a friend who’s dog does the axact same thing- he even presents visitors with stuff out the laundry basket.
She was told that it is a sign of affection- that the ‘pack members’ in a wild pack would do the hunting, but bring the kill back and present it to the leader. She is basically saying to you “look what i’ve got, i’m bringing it to you, I want you to have it”
(My dog will sometimes pull on the lead or want to walk a bit ahead of me, but if she has something to carry, be it a ball, toy or her lead, she will walk perfectly to heel- dogs are strange creatures!)
