Old Art

What do you do with old art projects?
So I’m in painting II and have a bunch of paintings that I have nothing to do with. It’s not like they are good enough to to hang or anything and I have always felt like giving them to your mom/dad as a present is just cheap as you can get. What to be doing withs them?
I used to give them as gifts. And you can always add a coat of gesso and paint over them, save yourself some money on painting mediums. If they are canvas, just gesso them. Oh, and one other thing – hang them up, even if they are terrible. Give them the honor they deserve. I always hang my paintings, even the ones that failed – you end up looking at it and can learn from what you’ve done. When you do something better you can replace it, but I’d hold on to them for awhile, see how you’ve grown. At least hang on to a few for awhile. There will be a time when you think you haven’t made progress – and you go back and look to see what you’ve done. I still have my first painting from class, it was an egg, one egg, and a shadow on a background – I could use it as a book cover and wouldn’t even like it as that it is so mundane.
